Specialized Bicycle Components didn’t set out to make a museum piece, but the company’s original StumpJumper (the first mass-produced mountain bike) is now permanently parked inside the Smithsonian Institution. The 1981 introduction of the StumpJumper established Specialized as a top-seller in bike shops, where it ranks with other big manufacturers, such as Trek and Giant for high-end cycles.
